Abstract

The increase in the number of elderly people, known as the elderly, is an indication of the success of development in the health sector. The increase in the elderly population goes hand in hand with the increasing life expectancy of the population. From the results of the 2022 Population Projection, it is known that the elderly population in Maluku in 2022 has reached 8.95 percent, which indicates that the Maluku population structure is moving towards an elderly population structure. This of course has consequences in the form of potential and challenges in development in Maluku Province. The elderly population has different socio-economic characteristics compared to the young population, so it requires special attention from policy makers so that the direction of development can also provide maximum benefits for the elderly population. This publication is published with the aim of providing an overview of the situation of the elderly population in Maluku. The data presented in this publication includes the demographic conditions, education, health and economic activities of the elderly population in Maluku in 2022. The main data sources used in preparing this publication are the results of the March 2022 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) and the Force Survey National Work (Sakernas) August 2022.
