In May 2023, out of 90 CPI cities, it was recorded that all CPI cities experienced year on year (yoy) inflation (May 2023 to May 2022). The highest yoy inflation occurred in Kotabaru and Timika, which experienced yoy inflation of 6.04 percent with a CPI of 121.80 and 117.74, while the lowest yoy inflation occurred in Pangkalpinang City, which experienced a yoy inflation of 1.93 percent with a CPI of 114.16.
Ambon City experienced yoy inflation of 5.03 percent with a CPI of 117.38. Yoy inflation in Ambon City occurred due to price increases as indicated by an increase in index in 10 expenditure groups, namely the highest in the transportation group at 11.62 percent; and the lowest was in the education group at 1.04 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced deflation was the information, communication and financial services group by 5.12 percent.
Tual City experienced yoy inflation of 5.59 percent with a CPI of 118.55. Yoy inflation in Tual City occurred due to price increases as indicated by an increase in indexes in 9 expenditure groups, namely the highest in the food and beverage/restaurant supply group of 23.15 percent; and the lowest was in the clothing and footwear group of 0.76 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that experienced the highest deflation was the health group by 1.28 percent; and the lowest in the education group of 0.05 percent.
Month to month (mtm) inflation rate (May 2023 to April 2023) Ambon City experienced inflation of 0.86 percent, while Tual City experienced inflation of 0.69 percent.
Year to date (ytd) inflation rate (May 2023 to December 2022) Ambon City experienced inflation of 0.49 percent, while Tual City experienced inflation of 2.79 percent.
