Abstract

  • Farmers Terms of Trade (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib).
  • NTP is one indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchange power (terms of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs.
  • The Farmers' Exchange Rate (NTP) for Maluku Province in February 2023 was 103.10, down 0.28 percent compared to January 2023 which was recorded at 103.39. The decline in FTT was caused by the price index of agricultural production (It) which was recorded to have increased by 0.25 percent and the increase in the price index paid by farmers (Ib) exceeded It by 0.53 percent.
  • In February 2023 Maluku Province was in 25th place out of 34 provinces with a NTP of 103.10. The highest NTP occurred in Riau Province at 154.52; while the lowest NTP occurred in East Nusa Tenggara Province at 95.70.
  • Two sub-sectors recorded a decline in NTP, namely the food crops sub-sector (-1.59 percent) and the horticulture sub-sector (-2.81 percent). Meanwhile, three other sub-sectors experienced an increase in NTP, namely the smallholder plantation sub-sector (0.64 percent), the livestock sub-sector (0.27 percent) and the fisheries sub-sector (1.14 percent).
